Good to see you safe. Know this, and I have thought deeply here, you are always good company, and welcome wherever I pass. Only ask, and if it in my power I will provide. So, although my court is strange you are more than welcome here. I see our newest companion has had the sense to keep out of things for now. Lets hope that this sense continues in a direction profitable for his future!
Well what next? I will probably mount a ‘charm offensive’ you are welcome to come along, but perhaps you might consider restricting you ‘diplomatic interventions of another kind’ from those that risk all out wars.
You see my philosophy is founded on the principle that: philosophers, and thinkers should seek the answers to the universe but only when directed by the fundamental value that the knowledge and power gained is dedicated exclusively to the pursuit of peace and prosperity.
What you nearly caused could have been, to paraphrase Lord Glaennyn, a heinous but minor skirmish. In fact we face much more dangerous possibilities. I have deduced, I think correctly, why the demons fled the Gate when we arrived.
I asked myself two questions: How could bound demons flee? Had vanity obscured our vision? I have concluded that the plan was to disperse all along. Demons bound to Azael could not have fled before us. Demons have no choice, so unless dispersal was planned all along they would have been forced to fight. When I suggested this to Lord Glaennyn he suggested that we might have got the relationship between Muziel and Azael back to front. And there lies the truth of it. Azael could not flee because he was bound to Muziel. While Azael kept our attention the real plan evaporated before we realised where the threat actually lay.
Now it is not beyond possibility that ever major strategic location around Grayhawk is one command away from all out assault. Think of it attacking in depth, everywhere important and simultaneously, ‘shock and awe’ as it were. We need responses to such threats.
Anyway what is done is done, I has been discovered that Muziel in his home plane is a powerful aristocrat and murderer, as well as a seemingly a self-styled replacement for the Reaper. But one with a plan so cunning we have yet to uncover all of the layers.
I suspect he has stuff that may need stealing!
As for Willowstar and any ‘elven threat’, I am reliably informed that Willowstar is gathering demons with the single intention of dispelling the lot – period.
What are your feelings toward Valadain now?
What a weird world!
