The Bane of Blades

The Blade of Gaxx

cy 2141 23rd Earth

The ivory hilted katana is one of the finest examples of swordsmanship that you have seen since witnessing the mesmerising beauty of Karamatsu’s own blade. It has four diamonds of different size and quality embedded into the hilt and a large red ruby adorns the pommel. The blade has two aspects, depending on which of the four different grips you choose. It can appear as a long sleak silver blade that possesses many of the qualities that blades of this type normally have (superbly sharp, hard as any steel etc...) but there is a darker, more powerful aspect.

Two different grips will turn the blade a dull, impenetrable black colour. Any creature or object that comes into contact with the blade in this condition is attack by the full force of the Primal Void and faces obliteration. In all aspects the blade seems to have some manner of Primal defence (both magical and physical) although whilst scabbarded it exudes only a minor magical presence.

You have come into contact with several great magical objects in your relatively short career and they seem to share a common factor - they possess great antiquity. In this The Blade of Gaxx is different. Your highly tuned haragei tells you that this blade is only days old. You can almost see Curevar’s face twisted in intense concentration as he works upon the metal in a deep crater beneath Niole Dra. As he toils he pours the power of The Ring of Gaxx into the creation and with it an immense all-consuming hatred for Allius Quaylar.

The death of Allius Quaylar was marked with the appearance of a Primal globe of the Void. The subsequent absorption by the three travellers of this Primal power was not the whole story, for Curevar’s creation was not without influence in the event. It absorbed power too, augmenting it’s own unfathomable abilities and producing an entity far removed from what Curevar had in mind. In effect it broke the shackles that Curevar had imposed upon it, shackles which would have tied the blade to the new king of Keoland forever. The Blade of Gaxx, however, had other ideas !!

The Legacy of Allius Quaylar

The absorption of the Primal Sphere was the most important event in the past century, more important even than the fall of Niole Dra or the death of Allius Quaylar. You feel strangely isolated, as if the weight of a great responsibility has befallen you, a responsibility that not even the gods themselves would bear. The three fortunate travellers have been inexorably enmeshed with your fate and you feel their growing power acutely, it lies heavily within them, straining the limits of their potential. Whilst holding the blade you become aware of that power. It is as if the Blade augments your own skills, adding an infinite well of primal power to your already burgeoning talents...
